The way our US health insurance system is set up, what prevents doctors from continually referring us in?0Jeananne2012-11-06 04:58:55
Here's my question: If private health insurance companies (and their affiliated physicians) in the US get paid every single time we go to them for a checkup or an illness or a prescription, what's preventing these companies and doctors from pressuring patients to "come back again for a follow-up", or recommend us to try newer and different medications? What prevents these doctors from making decisions based on a continuous flow of profit rather than long-term care for their patients?[View Answers]
Name the only country in the world that allows plaintiffs to not pay the defendant for a frivolous suit?0Maldives2012-11-05 16:32:27
Hints: 1) This country has a political party who obstructs tort reform. 2) This country has a political party who has deep, long term partnership with trial lawyers, who fund their political campaigns. 3) This country is more litigous, by far, than any other country in the world. 4) This country has higher health care costs because their entire medical community and industry, passes on their costs to the consumer for excessive malpractice insurance, needless medical procedures and many other needless excesses. 5) This country's health care costs would dramatically reduce if the political party who supports trial lawyers would not obstruct tort reform. 6) This country has a large portion of their population who have no idea that the rest of the world does not allow trial lawyers to prey on the community, don't have courts back-logged with frivolous law suits & every business spending money, needlessly, just to protect themselves from excessive litigation. Hhhmmm...[View Answers]
Why were Rep. Paul Ryan's pointed questions conspicuously unanswered at the big health care summit?0Corene2012-11-05 14:51:40
? "This bill does not control costs (or) reduce deficits. Instead, (it) adds a new health care entitlement when we have no idea how to pay for the entitlements we already have." ? "The bill has 10 years of tax increases, about half a trillion dollars, with 10 years of Medicare cuts, about half a trillion dollars, to pay for six years of spending. The true 10-year cost (is) $2.3 trillion." ? "The bill takes $52 billion in higher Social Security tax revenues and counts them as offsets. But that's really reserved for Social Security. So either we're double-counting them or we don't intend on paying those Social Security benefits." ? "The bill takes $72 billion from the CLASS Act (long-term care insurance) benefit premiums and claims them as offsets." ? "The bill treats Medicare like a piggy bank, (raiding) half a trillion dollars not to shore up Medicare solvency, but to spend on this new government program." ? "The chief actuary of Medicare (says) as much as 20% of Medicare providers will either go out of business or have to stop seeing Medicare beneficiaries." ? "Millions of seniors who have chosen Medicare Advantage (Medicare through a private insurer) will lose the coverage that they now enjoy."[View Answers]
Mom is financially irresponsible. Any advice?0celly2012-11-05 08:54:04
She has filed for bankruptcy twice in my young lifetime, and she refuses to pay for her own mom's medical costs (which have subsequently gone to collection agencies). She works a part-time restaurant job and is depending on that as well as child support payments as income for the next 2 years. I'm going to try and get her to sign term life and long term care insurance policies but she undermines everything I try to do for her (and mine and my younger siblings') betterment. Worst of all, I am dealing with this on my own. Is there ANYTHING I can do to make this situation better?[View Answers]

How can Governor Kathleen Selibus be going to be a HHS?0deedra2012-11-04 22:03:33
To people who never been or live in the state of Kansas, I want you to know who Kathleen Selibus is. I live in right inside Kansas. She has been on money of mismangement during her both terms and never really fix the health care in generally despite of the happy note Media says about her.Governor Kathleen Selibus threw $145 million in a few months of her first term and even more $ later on, penalized some private corporations and private insurances, and private medical clinic for not working out with the universal health care plan. Many of them fought against her. But the health care never been really fixed and or work into the basic core of solutions, only did expanded the cancer treatments, and children health programs for the low income families. As you know already she is a big supporter of late term abortion without offers the counseling. Other things you ought to know, Governor Kathleen Selibus has tried to turn Down town K.C into Los Angeles or Chicago- widen freeways,4 huge convention center which some of freeways is already been processed in and she tried to fight to allow to put $400 million being a part of the developers group of sport complex fields for soccer between Antioch and 69 in South Overland Park in 2006. We already have one, why need have 2 of them?. The Overland park residents in that area- people went out protested at the hearing, and then voted against it. The bill failed. Governor Kathleen Sebelius signed a bill in 2003 allowing illegal aliens to pay in-state tuition at state land-grant colleges (such as KU, K-State, Wichita State, Pittsburg State, and perhaps Fort Hays State)! This is a slap in the face of every legal immigrant and citizen. This law is in direct violation of USC Title 8. Kris Kobach, who ran against Dennis Moore for the 3rd Congressional District seat, is part of the legal team to bring down this highly unconstitutional law. She also allowed the courts to "dictate" budgeting. The KS(Kansas) Supreme Court ruled in 2006 that public schools were unconstitutional just because they could not get budgeted for funds! As you wondered why she got to be governor twice I believe she bought the election in a way. She is a very wealthy and from a long line of politican family- Her father was a governor of Ohio.I am apalled by most of the choices Obama has made thus far. The outrageous spending bill that he calls stimulus, his desire to DIRECTLY oversee the census, his broken promise of no earmarks are just a few examples of his socialist agenda. 2010 and 2012 can't come fast enough! Now, How can you stand the choices of people Obama, he choose for to be part of his adminstration? like Nancy Ann DeParle, who is going to be nominate of commissioner of Human and Health service, just another part of old Clinton Adminstration, who going to work with Governor Kathleen Selibus, two health czars?! Do you notice all of them have in one common - Spending![View Answers]
State help?0Bea2012-11-04 06:48:17
I need help desperately. My brother in law just got diagnosed with a brain tumor. He will need radiation and chemo etc. he is the head of household, my sister will have to work, but i am hoping we can get her out of work one way or another so she can stay home and take care of her husband during treatment. In California, how to you apply to long term disability through the state? Doesn't the state give the patient money plus the caregiver? any helpful advice on how to do this would be greatly appreciated.. also how about health insurance for the children ? my BIL is the one with all the benefits, but since he will be able to work (they told him maybe in 3 or 4 months he may go back) but how can we get them all medical ? thank you![View Answers]

Husband & father joining army at 34?0Shimika allicock2012-11-03 01:51:31
Weighing out the pros and cons to joining the us army after being unemployed for the first time. I have been with my wife to 11 years. We have 2 beautiful daughters one is 4 years old the other is almost 1 year old. For the first time I find myself unemployed. For the past 8 months I have been looking for work all over...even different states. The benefits and security of the Army appeal to my wife and I. Being unemployed and no longer independent is the hardest thing we have had to face. I don like the idea of being separated from my wife and daughters but would like to receive training in a new field and think this may be a short term loss for a long term gain. I am 34 and find this to be a very difficult decision. Pros and cons for each side, my wife supports what ever choice I make but I want to make sure my family is taken care of. Being with out insurance is horrible and living with the in-laws is becoming a daily challenge. What to do?[View Answers]
I can list Obama's accomplishments can you list Sarah Palins?0Agrim2012-11-02 14:45:23
This is not counting the over 10,000 bills in the state senate. Obama: Senate Accomplishments: Since entering the U.S. Senate in January 2005, Senator Obama has written approximately 890 bills and co-sponsored an additional 1096. Senators Obama and McCain have been running to be the nominee for President for their parties since January 2007. Therefore the 890 bills written by Senator Obama and the 1096 he co-sponsored all occurred in a 2-year span. That shows that he is a prolific and tireless Senator. Because of the long-drawn-out nature of passing laws in the Senate many of his bills are still in committee and some were vetoed by republicans. Senator Obama has an impressive record by anyone[View Answers]
Can I lease a car for my girlfiend in my name?0Asia2012-11-02 04:20:32
I can get a car lease on much better terms than my girlfriend if I put it in my name (only in my name). She is the one that needs the car, but I can save her about $200/month on the car she wants if it is in my name. The dealer doesn't mind, the insurance company doesn't mind (if the car is properly insured in her name), and even the DMV doesn't have a problem with it (as long as the vehicle is properly titled and insured). My parents, however, tell me that this would be ILLEGAL and not to do it. I understand that I would be ultimately responsible for that lease and, since my credit rating is very important to me, I could be stuck making the payments if she doesn't. I am OK with it. In fact, since I make a lot more money than her, I offered to pay for the lease to begin with. I expect that we will be married before the lease is up. My employer wouldn't be happy with me if he found out (I don't care), but I don't understand why this would be a problem LEGALLY? Please help![View Answers]
Opinions? Moral support? Much appreciated?0umray2012-10-30 22:45:03
So I have 18 years and live in Australia. I can not stand it. I do not like hot weather, disregard the Australian accent (no offense if you are Australian. Reality'm one too), has tanned skin (not that that has much to do with this, but you know, here all world is tanned!) and for some reason I love winter, the cold and rainy days. MedlinePlus MedlinePlus I want to work abroad! In England. MedlinePlus MedlinePlus I chose England because I can only speak fluent English and a little Dutch (which is not going to help, even in the Netherlands). And also by the climate and the accent. I know that their unemployment rates are very high at this time and so many people have tried to discourage but I found several companies that help assist people with moving / working abroad (search for long-term accommodation , workstations, a network of support, getting a bank account, a Visa card, insurance, etc). MedlinePlus MedlinePlus I'm a little worried though. I've never been away from my family before and my whole family (that I care anyway) is here in Australia. Family is very important to me, but I can not stand this country and I do not want to have to go through a day of 40 degrees again in my life. The longer I stay here, the more angry I seem to have. My family does not want me to leave. My dad even cried and told me I was going to lose a lot if I left. This was probably the hardest time of my life, and mourn him because of me. But the thing is, he moved to the Netherlands in his early 20's to Australia and left his entire family behind! And my mom actually went to live again in Holland for six months when she turned 18. Besides, I always are threatening to move. I would feel really bad if I left, but I think I have to go. For independent, to get rid of anger, to experience the world as my parents have. Is it hypocritical to ask me to stay when both left at my age? MedlinePlus MedlinePlus So guys, sorry to ramble on and on. What are the views of my situation? Should I stay or should I go? (Actually, preferably not tell me to stay). MedlinePlus MedlinePlus Anything you want to add? Nothing at all! Please, I need advice as much as they can get. Anyone moved countries or worked abroad? Tell me your experiences MedlinePlus MedlinePlus Much love.[View Answers]

Good, inexpensive skin care?1hellllp!2012-10-29 17:45:04
I have acne. A lot of it. My skin is dry or oily again depending on weather conditions. I have tried many face washes or different systems skin care, but so far nothing gives me long-term results. MedlinePlus MedlinePlus Here is a list of things I've used over the years: MedlinePlus MedlinePlus Klear Action: a proactive knock-off. It worked fine, but the second I stopped using it (because the price was too high), my acne came back worse than ever! MedlinePlus Clean and Clear: I have used many different types of "oil-free" moisturizers and facial soaps. Nothing seems to work. MedlinePlus Neutrogena: I used the two-stage system acne (wash face, then a lotion for either day or night), but my skin became very itchy and red. The ads say it improves after a day, but I have mine worse! MedlinePlus St. Ives: I used your Invigorating Apricot Scrub control of the shin. He did well for my black heads (although I did not have many), but nothing for the rest of the face. It was also irritating as it had walnut shells in it. MedlinePlus Clearasil: I have been using their face wash daily for about a month. Keeps my face clean and soft, but does nothing for acne. MedlinePlus MedlinePlus There have been other things like pore strips, Olay wipes, and so on, but they have been mostly short-term with few results. MedlinePlus MedlinePlus I'm thinking I might have to see a dermatologist, but I'm not sure if my insurance covers it because it is cosmetic dermatologist and an expensive visit. MedlinePlus MedlinePlus My question is: Does anyone know of a cheap brand of face wash systems or skincare (which means that I can buy for about $ 10 at a department store like Meijer or Wal Mart), which also will take care of my acne horrible? It seems that nothing works, or works only for a while. Everything that you think will help, please feel free to reply! MedlinePlus MedlinePlus Thank you![View Answers]
At what point does this health care debate actually address the REAL issue, Health REFORM?0SaladBowl Head2012-10-29 06:45:02
I see talk about coverage, I see talk about costs for insurance, I see talk about greedy Insurance companies, I see talk about deferred taxation, I see talk about long term care, short term care, mandated lifestyles, advisory boards, etc and etc. But what I do NOT see is health care reform. I don't see the costs of procedures being talked about, I don't see the costs of pharmaceuticals going down (for those about to retort, pill costs will only be spread over the Entire spectrum of people under this bill which does nothing to lower the cost but just to spread the cost out), I don't see reform to the health care system, meaning the way doctors practice and charge, meaning the way nurses practice and charge, meaning the way life prolonging measures are done, etc. and etc. The ONLY thing I see is the cost of insurance being transferred from a private agency into the hands of the Federal Government. How can anyone say this is health care reform?[View Answers]

My mom is currently taking Niaspan and Lipitor and I am wanting to try a more natural approach...?0Chaney2012-10-26 07:44:18
My mom is 68 years old and she has been taking cholesterol drugs for several years . I have fear of drugs long term side effects of my sister also had high cholesterol and was able to control it with a drug called CholestOff . My mom has a visit dr for blood test tomorrow and I was thinking it would be a good time to see if we could try. I wanted to climb the CholestOff and maybe a B vitamin supplement to replace Niaspan and some garlic tablets . I'm not sure if the country has your best interest in mind if you are making a commitment to prescribed drugs because from my understanding is basically Niaspan niacin sold without prescription , but she is paying more than 100.00 month after insurance and Medicare . And I thought the Lipitor was just to get your cholesterol under control , but he said he was going to be on it for life. I do not want her to take drugs that end up messing something else (such as liver ) later down the line if we care naturally with diet and natural things that just do not know what the dr say and wonder if anyone else has had similar experiences ?[View Answers]
