I paid car insurance by mistake, can I get the money back?0MP2012-11-06 07:01:31
For car insurance, it was under my husband's and mine's account. We are billed $490 but my husband passed away. Anyway, I did automatic payment on the 15th charged from my bank account and on the same day I called the insurance company to update my insurance, exclusively under my name because my husband passed away already. He said that I don't have to pay the 490 balance but we will start fresh....but I already paid the 490 and it appears from my bank statement as deducted. Can I get back or cancel it? I couldn't call them this time because it's too early yet.[View Answers]

My car insurance company raised my bill because my zip code changed.?0Sabeva2012-11-05 19:51:21
But I thought that in California they passed a bill called prop 103 that says that changing zip code should not be a base to raise the bill... I talked to the insurance guy on the phone who said that prop 103 never passed, yet when I'm reading about it in the internet,it says it passed..Am I missing something? Can I file a complaint to the consumers'affairs and the BBB in order for them to drop back my rate to my previous zip code? It's only a few dollars but it ads up at the end of the year..[View Answers]

Car accident, insurance 500 liability. Guy at fault wants to pay for damages?0Scole2012-11-05 15:21:10
Keep in mind my boyfriend or his sister and not on my policy. On friday my boyfriend sister was driving my car they were behind a guy and all the sudden this guys decides to stop in the middle of the street to back up in reverse and hits my car they. He states he looked and did not seem them. At that time he stated he didn't have insurance and he was not getting it till the following day and to not report the accident. We didn't believe him so my boyfriend decided to call the police and insurance company. We filled all the necessary things. He called us today to let us know he has insurance now. We know that that is nothing the accident happened before already. He stated to us he needs to "settle this or else his license will be suspended for a year" ( I don't know who called him or who told him this) My insurance on Friday told me you have a 500 dollar liability and we basically I pay up 500 for the damages and they take care of the rest. They stated they will cover it ( I was suprised since they are not on the policy) I told the insurance that the guy had stated he had no insurance and she said ohh no then we are not going to get anything back? So I am super confused. I want to accept this guys money to repair it, but if they want to suspend his license I have nothing to do with that. I think he wants me to notify the insurance hey he is going to pay for it drop charges? but I dont think that is possible. Please advice[View Answers]

How to settle with a car insurance company?0bubs 2012-11-05 07:52:37
I was in a car accident while I was 3 months pregnant and had my 2 year old son in the car. The other lady ran a red light and smashed right into us totally my car and my son and I went to the E.R. to get checked out. They have been adamantly denying liability until the outcome of arbitration. They have just changed their tune and want to settle with me. How much is enough? My medical bills probably equal 10K and i'm still in treatment for my neck injury. This has been the most stressful thing I've ever had to deal with and during my pregnancy no less, not to mention my son's panic attacks about getting in the car for the 3 months following the accident... They have offered me an offensively low amount for son and I need advice. Plus I have heard that you can get paid out on your baby if you have been pregnant in an accident..please advice?[View Answers]
Why can car insurance base on statistics, but other things can't.?0Aubree2012-11-05 07:35:50
Is it women who gossip more at work or men? Is it women who bring their personal life to work more or is it men? Is it women who will have to take a huge break at work because pregnancy or men? Why are women paid lower? Is it men that get in more wrecks then women? Is it men that have the "need for speed" always in their head while driving? Is it men that buy flashier cars? Why do men pay more for car insurance? So basically we have one type of company that can be sexist on statistics, but what about statistics everywhere else? Also, does the rule not look at soccer mom statistics? I've seen way more women talking on their phone then men. Six parking lot wrecks at my work this year all caused by women in my office (none by men). I drive a 5 speed so talking on the phone isn't something I even like to try. The reason for my complaint is my sister is 17. She has one dui and two speeding tickets. I am 21 I have a clean slate other than a warning for my headlight being out and nothing else. My insurance is $1320 a year her insurance is $720. We drive the same car and have had the same courses. It makes me feel like it makes sense I should be paid more because I pay more because something I can't control.[View Answers]

Can my insurance company give out my driving record without my consent to other clients/policy holders?0karabo2012-11-05 00:26:11
A question from a friend. I am a 36 year old male who received a D.W.I. one year ago in the state of Virginia. I fully understand that this was a mistake, I broke the law and my rates would typically double, however my rates only slightly increased, but this is not my concern. Mid-June I moved back to Ohio and share a residence with my family. Of course, I had to switch agents when I moved back to Ohio. We all share the same insurance company, however we are NOT on the same policy. The new agent pulled my driving record, found the mistake and ultimately the underwriter gave me the option of an inflated rate or cancellation of my policy. Again, I understand that this was a repercussion of my D.W.I. and was fully prepared for this, when it happened one year ago, not a year later. But again, this is not my concern. Because the mistake was just now found it presented me with a new situation/problem. Today my mother, step-father and sister (whom I'm sharing a residence with, not policies) all received individual letters stating: "Thank you for allowing the opportunity to provide your car insurance. Based on information developed from a current review, we are adding a driver exclusion endorsement for (my name here) to the above policy, effective on August 12, 2010. This means that your policy provides no coverage whatsoever while the excluded driver operates any vehicle. The letter continues on providing my private driving record containing personal information about my D.W.I. that I received a year ago.It provides them with the date and conviction of both my D.W.I. and a conviction (I've yet to understand fully) "fail to file future proof reason unspecified". It also states that my license is presently suspended or revoked, when in fact it was only restricted and was reinstated in June. I've read the companies privacy policies and this is in clear violation. I have also researched the driver privacy protection act of 1994, which they also seem to be in violation of. My question is: Are they violating my/the privacy laws? And, what can I do about this?[View Answers]
Car insurance for occasional use?016 years not doing well in high school2012-11-04 17:55:54
My question is this... I want to get a motorbike so that I use my car less often (a bike is cheaper to run). Are there any companies (in England, UK) who offer car insurance for occasional use only ('pay-per-use' style??)? I would like to commute to work each day on my motorbike and only use the car once a fortnight. This would be good for my pocket (what with the "credit crunch" effecting our lives) and also good for the environment (less fuel used). Ideally, I would only use a motorbike, but really do have to keep the 4 wheeled alternative as I have my 2 daughters once a fortnight. Could anyone please help me answer this question. It would be very much appreciated!! Any other suggestions you could offer would also be appreciated! Thank you![View Answers]

What is the proper way to repaint a brand new car? Insurance question...?0Conflicted College Student2012-11-04 09:13:57
I recently had my car damaged in one of our Texas storms. It caused about $4000 in damage to the entire left side, hood, and both bumpers, and knocked out two windows. I just got my car back from the "insurance suggested" body shop and I can still see where many of the rock marks were painted over. There are divets in the paint in a lot of spots, which is better than the metal that was showing before, but not how I want it. My question is, shouldn't they have completely sanded down the areas of the car that needed to be repainted instead of just painting over the paint nicks? The car is a 2009 Mustang that is practically brand new. Maybe I am wrong, but shouldn't the insurance company be fixing the car to the PERFECT condition it was in before it was damaged?[View Answers]

How much does will my insurance pay? My car was totalled?0jenish2012-11-04 08:48:49
My car was in a serious accident, and is irrepairable. The insurance company is coming down in a day or two to check out the car. I was no at fault, police are still looking for the guy at fault. However, my car is done. Will my insurance company give me the value of replacing a car like that, like if I were to buy one again, or would they give me the "book" value?[View Answers]
