We had significant damage Foundation that the result of a leak in the line of the city water main . We reported standing water in the yard, in January this year. The city sent an inspector to test the line on our side of the meter, which showed no leak. It was reported that it was just "run " due to recent rains . Since we just moved in 2 days before reporting the supposed leak , the experts knew what they were talking about. After 2 months we started noticing cracks in walls and ceilings and floors. We call an expert from the foundation, which stated that there was a leak somewhere that was washing our foundation because of the cracks and movement in the house . We called the city again and this time found a leak on your side of the meter have not tried the first time it came out. So now we have a house with a mortgage of 165,000 , with significant damage (over 70,000) and no resources to fix it. Would not it be insurance covers the damage, since it was due to a leak as it followed the proper protocol ?

Will Homeowners Insurance cover water damage from Hurricane?1Irene2012-11-02 15:06:01
My father just bought their first home this year. About 5 months ago , we lived in an apartment in the U.S. life, so do not know everything about owning a home. We just had our first hurricane to homeowners , and man I would not like living in an apartment. We had a flooded basement because the power went out causing the sump pump to stop working , resulting in a foot of water. We were prepared and moved all atleast 3 feet high , etc. We have a finished basement, and I can see the physical damage to walls and floors , maybe even our washing machine do not know. My question is , will my homeowners insurance cover the damages, if we would like to have them fixed, for example, have the bottom of the walls redone , or redo the tiles, because they look horrible. Some of them came when we were cleaning . Also, do not know who is our home insurance is, how do we know? The Point : Will homeowners insurance cover water damage from a hurricane , redo some parts of the walls and floor to prevent mold? and How I can know who is my home insurance ? thanks
