Can you file an car accident insurance claim without a police report?5 Xx bread!- the wrong car2012-06-21 10:56:09
this is re: a very minor accident . our car " bounced " in the other car crashed after their breaks. There is no harm at all to our car. The plate and screws are " folded" in the other car . Another person does not cooperate , then we gave our insurance information to them , refused to give information to us. Police at the scene did not report , he told us to deal with him as our own. My concern is, can file a claim? Would not it be just our word against his ? advice would be helpful , thanks.
Can an insurance claim be made on an accident if the police did not file a report?2Geraldine2012-08-05 22:36:03
I was involved in a car crash last night . The man in front of me hit the brakes and, as it was raining , I slipped into the back of it when I hit the brakes. When police got there said he could not file an accident report because the damage was less than $ 1500 ( no car was more of a dent in the bumper ). We agreed (in principle ) to resolve w / o lead our insurance on it. He told me that I would get a quote and then contact me. However, two hours after the accident filed a complaint with your insurance company . I called to find out why he did, and now is saying that your transmission is bad and that one of the headlights has been dropped. My question is: can you file a claim with your insurance company if the police did not make a complaint ? Also, I will be responsible for transmitting a malfunction even though it is highly unlikely that I was the cause of it ? ( since I'm pretty sure the transmission is in the front of your car)

How can I make a personal property insurance claim when the police will not allow me to file a report?0Loini2012-10-19 03:45:04
Two months ago, I took personal property to an ex-friends home. He moved and his whereabouts is unknown and with him went my property. My insurance company claims that my personal property is considered Covered. My insurance company has stated that in order to process a Loss, I must file a police report; the claim forms support this requirement. Here is the problem: According to the Police Dept., they cannot take, nor may I file, a Police Report. The Police Dept. has stated that this situation is NOT a criminal matter; it is a civil matter known as a "Breach of Trust." Also, the Police have stated that my only recourse is to sue the person who took my property when he moved. And, I know that his act was deliberate as I tried to collect my property several times prior to his disappearance. I have already informed my insurance company the circumstances surrounding this Loss. Since a report is required by my insurance company, how can I possibly proceed with this matter?
