I averted New Horizons because of the Animal Crossing Items  upgrade scheme, and also the issues people are having with it because are almost vindicating. Nobody should dislike playing Animal Crossing if they're going into it with a relaxed head, so it still sucks to see people disappointed with it, but I recommend New Leaf rather than Even with its Welcome Amiibo expansion (that is now on the cartridge for new carts), the game wasn't in update hell and has been more or less complete on day one. Bonus, there's no durability or other Minecraft-like mechanics.
However, you eliminate the candy map-making abilities... THe product is currently complete on launch. This game wasn't in development for decades for nothing. And I'm not someone who's likely to move against Aya Kyogoku contemplating just how much she adored AC on New Leaf and now on New Horizons as manager, to the point where she had been promoted last year in Nintendo as manager in place of Nogami (manufacturer of Splatoon/AC) who was also encouraged.
The updates feel like they are only ways to deliver and keep interest on the game for years and years, and that's performing well considering how the game keep selling months and months following it originally released. If word of mouth against it was so strong, would it retain selling like it will after all those months? I don't know, feel very strange to me. Easter and other holidays are literally not on the cartridge, locked supporting upgrades. Other developments and bug-fixes also came against the upgrades. When it's not completed, then it's not worth buying.
I buy fewer than that I did, and tend to wait until after release today, to find out what happens wrt updates. I don't enjoy my games being split between digital and physical, and upgrades ensure some of the game stays digital.
As entertaining as the last two generations of gambling have been, the practical side is becoming worse and eventually there will not be anything bodily to buy except the computer system. When that happens then yeah I'll probably quit buying new games because digital games could be revoked at buy Animal Crossing New Horizons Items  any time. (Read the Terms)
